Stochastic Simulation of Inhomogeneous Metocean Fields. Part II: Synoptic Variability and Rare Events
نویسندگان
چکیده
The paper discusses stochastic models for the synoptic variability of metocean fields using spatio-temporal impulse representations combined with Markov walks of storms in space. The models are fitted to an extensive data set of ocean wave fields from the Barents Sea and verified by studying the fields duration and extreme value properties.

Peculiarities of Computer Simulation and Statistical Representation of Time-Spatial Metocean Fields
The integral property of hydrometeorological fields (atmospheric pressure, wind speed, wind waves, temperature and salinity of seawater, sea currents) is their spatial– time variability caused by superposition and interaction of a large number of factors. Characteristic ranges of variability are interannual variability (cyclicity of fluctuations more than one year), annual cycles, synoptic vari...

متن کاملAn economic-risk analysis of alternative rotations by stochastic simulation in Fars province
ABSTRACT - Cultivation of legumes in crop rotations results in atmosphere nitrogen fixation. After harvesting, part of this external nitrogen remains in soil and is used by subsequent crops. This implies that producers would gain from lowering the amount of nitrogen fertilizer in their fields. In this study, stochastic simulation is used to generate probability distributions of net present valu...
متن کاملClosures for Ensemble-Mean Linear Dynamics with Stochastic Basic Flows
This paper demonstrates the validity of a second-order closure for the ensemble-mean dynamics using the approach of direct numerical ensemble simulations of a linear barotropic model with stochastic basic flows. For various configurations of the stochastic basic flow and external forcing, the deterministic solutions under the second-order closure capture, with remarkable accuracy, the ensemble ...
